Rhino Health has launched the Federated Learning for Medicine (FL4M) consortium, bringing together seven healthcare institutions across four continents to enhance AI development in medicine. Utilizing Rhino Health’s federated learning platform, the consortium focuses on improving algorithms for detecting undiagnosed brain aneurysms. This approach allows AI models to be trained on diverse, decentralized patient data without transferring it from the original healthcare institutions, thereby preserving patient privacy and complying with various data protection regulations. Early results indicate that validating and retraining algorithms on globally diverse datasets can increase their generalizability and reduce bias, ultimately improving clinical outcomes.
